Evo Magazine is a long established UK based automotive publication, specialising in everything from super cars to sports cars. No stranger to driving abroad, Evo Magazine make regular trips to motorsport meetings and events held all across France. Attending events such as 24 Hours of Le Mans often requires frequent journeys on the autoroute and trying to pay a toll charge in a low down, right hand sports car certainly proves a challenge. Deciding to try our tags, Evo have reviewed the telepeage tag in there popular Tried and Tested section.

Top Gear magazine took a convoy of supercars from Calais to Strasboug over the Sanef autoroute network. As if they needed to go any faster, they also used Liber-t tags to avoid stopping at the toll plazas.
We used a Liber-t tag from Emovis Tag UK to get a convoy of supercars through France for a BBC TopGear Magazine photo shoot, and it worked absolutely perfectly. Edward Beaber used to run a business based in Amsterdam, and has therefore been a regular traveller to and through France, for business and pleasure for many years. But he only came across the Liber-t tag from Emovis Tag last summer.

Stephen Hargreaves-Woodruff, 68, has been motoring to and from France for 25 years, and five or six years ago, on one of these trips, he wondered what the ‘t’ symbol signified over the toll gate. His investigations led him to discover Emovis Tag UK’s Liber-t tag.
The former chauffeur said: “These tags are so useful, it’s so much easier since we got one. You don’t have to lean across, and find money. It’s a lot more efficient cause you don’t have to worry about change or putting coins in the toll. You just pull up to the barrier, wait for the beep and away you go.”
Stephen, who visits France once or twice a year with his wife Carolyn, said the pair spent just £155 using the system during their last nine-day trip in 2016.
He went on: “It’s easier, and I suspect it could be a little bit less expensive. It’s hassle-free, completely, and very logical.
“I’ve told friends about it, as they must go to France three times a year, and they’re definitely going to get it. I’d love to see it in the UK.”

David Baston is retired and frequently travels to France, Spain, Portugal and Italy, where he enjoys taking his 1966 Lotus Elan out on the open road.
He’s been making these journeys for around 25 years, and said the Liber-t tag has made things much easier. He came across the tags after spotting an advert on the motorway in France.
He said: “It’s fab, absolutely brilliant. It’s a very neat system in that you don’t have to carry cash, and it just works so very well.
“When your car is so low to the ground and so old, sometimes the credit card slot for the tolls is on the passenger side of the car, so it’s a piece of cake; what’s not to like?”

We have just returned from our trip to France (the Loire) of just over 1800 miles. There are really only two words to sum up the use of the tag: absolutely wonderful.
No more struggling to reach the ticket machine, struggling with change or joining queues. It was all so much less stressfull.

I can't tell you the buzz I get from whipping through the barriers with my Tag!! It's great!! After 26 years of regular trips back & forth I've had some horrible incidents at the toll booths. For example: the wind ripping my car door out of my hand as I opened it to get out to pay, smashing it against the concrete barriers that line the way. Having the toll ticket blown away & having to pay from the beginning of the motorway. Having the coins swallowed at the auto toll & having to pay again, being terribly embarrassed as a Brit having to get everyone behind me to back up when the toll wouldn't issue a ticket...feeling very vulnerable having to get out at the toll booth all alone in the early hours. I could go on.....That's all from me. I'm a happy bunny ( you must think me very sad). I did have one very nice experience. I'd forgotten to mail my French post & I asked the woman at the toll if she'd kindly post it for me. She did & I saw her again & was able to thank her! It's all automated now though, so no human contact.

First of all, super-fast initial service getting the tag, also very easy to set up on your web site. Second, the tag itself is great, as a first time visitor to France (by car anyway) the tag is simply the best way to deal with the tolls. Finally, I had my car come up as the wrong class on one toll, I sent you the details and you said it would be refunded. Meantime several other tolls also showed up as class 2 instead of class one (probably because of my roof box), I made a mental note to email you about these, but no need; I checked my account today and all have been refunded and the correct charge applied.

After many years experiencing the disadvantages of queuing and paying at tools in both France and Spain, we became Emovis Tag UK subscribers earlier this year.
We have just returned from a 3-week driving holiday in France, and using the Emovis Tag UK tag was a pleasure and a great time saver. We wished that we had become subscribers much sooner.
During our trip, It frequently gave us much satisfaction to be overtaken by locals exceeding the speed limit a few kilometres before a toll barrier, then using the 'Tag Only' barrier (while the locals queued using their credit cards or cash) - and then seeing them overtaking us several kilometres after the tool booth - while again, they were exceeding the speed limit. The Emovis Tag UK tag is a 'Must Have' for British drivers on French roads. Having had our first French trip using the Emovis Tag UK tag, we would feel really disadvantaged without it.

I was alerted to this service just 3 days before we were due to leave for France in June. I applied through the website, the unit was delivered the day after, (excellent), and was fitted before we left, (simple). We approached he first peage unit in France with a little nervousness, we needn't have worried, a quick beep, barrier up and away. This makes life so much easier than hunting around for loose change with a queue building up behind, (you never have the right amount). We went through about 20 peage barriers and they all worked perfectly. OK so there are a few additional costs, but they aren't ridiculous and from a convenience and peace of mind perspective, worth every penny.

Driving in France was a pleasure and a joy, just like the old days in the UK, made all the better with the T tag. It worked a dream, except on one occasion!! My fault entirely – as we neared the barrier, which was still up from the previous car, I heard the tell tale bleep and started to accelerate forward, only for the barrier to plonk itself down on my bonnet – gently I may add, as I braked hard. Confused we flashed the tag again and hey presto, the barrier rose and we were on our way. What I thought was the bleep was in fact a text message arriving on my phone which was located in the central well. Lesson learnt!! After a superb overnight ferry crossing, we then had to contend with the nightmare of British Motorways, packed and slow, or like a F1 race track. The moral - you get what you pay for - with a little bleep!!

So impressed was I with my first experience of using a tag on our recent trip to France, I wanted to give you some feedback on how delighted my wife and I were with the whole system.
I have to say that after fitting the tag, I approached the first toll booth with some trepidation but thankfully, my fears were completely unfounded and it worked just as advertised - every time and without a hitch!
The saving in time [by being able to use the much less busy automatic booths]; convenience [no need to scratch around for the money to pay the attendant or their mechanical equivalent]; irritation [of normally having to wake my slumbering wife in the left hand front seat to reach out and physically pay]; speed [very little delay in getting through the peage system] - made the whole thing totally effortless and a pleasure to use.
I would thoroughly recommend anybody setting off to motor around the delights of France to get a libert-t tag; it was brilliant !!

My wife and I are Emovis tag UK account holders of a couple of years standing - we drive to and from Switzerland half a dozen times a year. I can't praise the system too highly. Apart from the time saving, significant when there are toll plaza queues such as those at Reims on a summer weekend, it's incredibly convenient not to have to fret about money, credit cards, slots, tickets and manoeuvring a RHD car to the precise spot alongside the machine. Plus it always makes us giggle as the beep sounds and the barrier lifts - we always expect it to fail and it never does! Best of all, it's a godsend when I make the journey alone. My car is a big 4x4, too big to reach across from the RH driving position - driving without the tag means stopping, putting on brake, climbing down, walking around the car, using credit card, walking back around, climbing back in, setting off - and trying to nod apologies to the growing queue behind. All stress disappears with the tag. I often recommend to others: once experienced, I don't believe anyone would go back.

Just returned to UK having toured with motorhome into Italy, and the journey through France was made so much easier by using the Liber-t télépéage service from Calais to Mont Blanc tunnel. Excellent service - ordered on the Sunday afternoon and arrived in the post on Tuesday. It was easy to navigate the website and validate the tag, a pity all websites are not as user friendly. Using the tag was a real joy - yes it does make you feel a tad smug when you avoid a queue but the real benefit is not having to lean out and with the ticket and the credit card, particularly when I'm not as good as I should be at judging the nearside distance to those intimidating concrete walls !! The French motorways have always been a dream come true for British drivers, very quiet, smooth with superb services or rest stops every 10 ks or so. But until now a nightmare for my wife, as severely sight impaired, enough to be registered blind, the toll and ticket booths are hell for her. I received a reply from a fellow human being - Jon - in 9 minutes, and he had completed my application within a further 35 minutes!
